Sidetracked by the darkest thought,
That crossed my mind again,
Our Earth is getting very sick,
And the cancer’s name is man,

Mother Earth is very ill,
It’s a cancer that is clear,
We’re taking much more than we need,
Driven on by greed and fear.

Four billion years of plants and beasts,
And the balance held intact,
Along came man with greed and hate,
And caused this sorry fact.

It’s not that all mankind is bad,
Only just the greedy kind,
Who never can be satisfied,
Something’s missing in their mind.
